of Vince Clarke & Erasure

 Vincent
Clarke was born on July 3rd 1960 at Woodford , Essex , he was
member of the "Boys Brigade" he was always attracted to Pop Music , he was member of different bands, as "No Romance in China" as well as Andy Fletcher. With Andy and Martin Gore they decided to form a new band : "Composition of Sound" in 1977 , they play guitar and bass first, but quickly turn to electronic music, with synthetiser keyboards... Vince didn't felt comfortable with being the lead singer, he was already the one running the whole process of composing the music and writing the lyrics, he was the real head of the band... He contacted someone he knew a young guy with nice voice : David Gahan and it all started, they made few songs and were noticed by Daniel Miller , they were already known as Depeche Mode. They got big success with their first album "Speak and Spell" which was the whole work of Vince Clarke except for 2 songs . |
 Vince
didn't really appreciated the whole success of DM and the way
he was seen by the other members, he left the band at the end
of 1981 just before going on tour. At this time he decided to work with a friend he had in common with other DM band members: Alison Moyet , to form a new group called Yazoo , with who he will make an album and make two big hits: "Don't Go" and "Only You"... in 1982 , but again Vince didn't feel at ease with that and just left Alison on her own... |
 Vince
made again another association with Eric Radcliffe
and formed a group called the Assembly and made a single
called:"Never Never" , but
vince again, feels the need to move away and leave this association,
and with Paul Quinn releases a single called "One
day" in 1985. Vince is always looking to get better and experience new stuff ... he doesn't feel well until ...1986 He meets Andy Bell , who has a nice voice, and decide to form a new band called ERASURE with him, still oriented, electronic Pop Music, they release an album in 1986 : "Wonderland" and still go on like that, finally Vince found his place where he could express his whole creativity ...and where he found himself comfortable with ... Andy also participates in the writing of the songs of Erasure, right now you can hear their new album : Loveboat. Vince has released on a solo project, in collaboration with a former member of Heaven 17 ,an experimental sound album called PRETENTIOUS... Now there is their brand new album of Erasure : Loveboat |
